We approach ADHD by looking at the state of the mind and body. We look at what is out of balance and guide you towards restoring balance. Some of the most common interventions include nutrition, exercise and meditation. A healthy, well balanced diet helps the brain function more efficiently by providing needed nutrients free of artificial colors and preservatives, pesticide residue and other harmful additives and chemicals that can contribute to forgetfulness, distractibility and disorganization. In addition, food allergies could be an underlying cause of ADHD. Using an elimination diet can help pinpoint what foods, if any, are impacting your brain function.
Another intervention is exercise. Physical exercise releases chemicals in the brain that helps improve your mood and increases your ability to focus and pay attention. Exercise can also help to decrease your impulsivity.
Meditation and other relaxation techniques such as yoga will help you find a state of calmness and allow you to focus your mind.

What Tests are Appropriate for ADHD?
ADHD is usually diagnosed by a physician or a psychologist; however, it cannot be determined with a single test. A person must show at least some of the symptoms of ADHD on a consistent basis for a significant period of time. The rule of thumb is at least six months. Observations, anecdotal records and checklists are used to diagnose ADHD. A physical exam is performed to rule out any other possible medical conditions.
Since there is no single cause of ADHD, it is beneficial to identify any possible underlying causes. The most common factors include food allergies, a B vitamin deficiency, a metal toxicity, mineral deficiencies, poor nutrition, an unhealthy diet, or a thyroid disorder.
